Invisible Pyramids

Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico

Two cast-in-place concrete towers rise above an indoor/outdoor living plateau built into a steep jungle cliff above Playa Escondida.  The plateau and a glass bottomed pool burrow into the hillside yet still float above the jungle tree tops with unobstructed views of the Pacific.

One tower is enclosed and holds a two-level master bedroom. Light channels through it into the bedrooms below. The other tower functions as an observatory and is open to the elements. Geometric forms rise through the canopy of the jungle.  Sunlight flows down through them into the living spaces.  A dream-like vision of inhabited ruins in the jungle.
