vonStein Pavilion
Kenwood, California
"The work of art is revolutionary, the house is conservative"
Adolf Loos
The pavilion floats in a secluded thicket of Live Oaks protecting it from the summer heat. Its very simple requirements are to function as an occasional guest room, and a place to sip martinis and watch German television. The one wall supporting the cantilever carries a 28' x 9' fresco by artists Cathy Liu and Gary Maricich.
